Paired case left unchanged by fix

rare29 sightingsfirst seen November 2026

What goes wrong

A correction is applied to the case that was reported, while the matching case the same rule was always meant to cover keeps the old behaviour. The reader relies on one rule holding across both cases, because they are written side by side and described as one rule.

Example

An export learns to record how many rows it cut from one table, and every other table in the same export still truncates silently.

Not to be confused with

Not Fix applied to one copy only: the untouched sibling is not a duplicate of the changed code but the other case of the same rule, often handled a few lines away.
