Fix applied to one copy only

#3common377 sightingsfirst seen August 2026

What goes wrong

A rule or fix that must hold in several equivalent places — twin handlers, parallel branches, a script and its copy in a runbook — is applied only where the author was looking. The untouched twin keeps the old behaviour, and the system contradicts itself.

Example

The desktop checkout handler gets the new discount rule; the mobile handler, a copy-paste twin, still applies the old one and prices differ by device.

Not to be confused with

Non-security twin of Second entry point skips the check; not a hand-typed copy that was never derived from the original (Hand-typed copy of the rule drifts), and not a stale participant list in a comment (Stale consumer list in comment).
