A fix for a gesture race shipped with no test, and the whole suite had passed green with the bug live. Delete the one-line guard and every check stays green while the screen freezes again.
Add a test that fails on the old code before you merge a fix. A suite that was green with the bug live proves nothing.

A swipe-back release handler snaps the screen offset without checking if a close animation is running. Press Back mid-drag and the snap cancels the exit animation, so the screen never leaves and swallows all input.
Check the closing flag in every gesture callback. A late release can undo an exit in flight.
Never put the exit callback after a cancellable await. A cancel skips it with no error.
