Equality Checked In One Direction

#97rare10 sightingsfirst seen September 2026

What goes wrong

A check or test promises an exact match but verifies only one direction — every expected item is present — and never the reverse, that nothing extra is present. Additions, or the mirror-image violation, pass silently.

Example

A test asserts every required translation key exists in the locale file, but never that the file has no keys the app stopped using — a contains-all check instead of equality.

Not to be confused with

The check runs; only the reverse direction is missing — unlike an empty input read as a pass (Missing Input Green Gate) or an inventory that shrinks unnoticed (Silently Shrinking Guard Corpus).
